What's this about silently reducing the maximum audio upload file size to 25mb? Did I miss a Team Vox post that mentioned this? I was thinking of using Vox for hour-long podcasts and now I can't? Hmm...
Hey when'd that happen? Vox got .html suffixes at the end of post url's. That wasn't always like that, was it? What gives?
markpasc posted a Dear Vox earlier today and I wanted to follow it up with one of my own. So...
Dear Vox,
Is it possible for me to view protected content via an external feed reader? The help page on feeds has the following to say on the subject:
Some news readers can't read private posts, so that is something to be aware of as you use feeds and news readers.
What it doesn't tell me is which feed readers can read private posts, and how to authenticate against Vox using those feed readers so that private content will actually show up.
+1 to markpasc's call for singlethreaded comments.
Also; sometimes (like now) comments just don't cut it and you need to respond to someone's post with a post of your own. I wish Vox could do this as easily as YouTube.
Dear Lazy Vox,
I was just given the url to a YouTube video I'd love to add to my Vox account. However, the owner of the video has not properly tagged it, so I cannot access it via the YouTube conduit. I know the URL for the video, and subsequently its YouTube id (Q2L893SJNoY), but I still can't figure out how to get this video into Vox.
Regarding said video, it's well-produced live recording of one of my favorite bands. It really captures the essence of the group; their energy. If you're not a fan already, you'll be one by the time the video is over.
Update: thanks to Patti, I got the video imported. Hooray! Here it is:
Can I get a "woo-hoo" for the Vox team for the Reader implementation? Dizamn, yo. Seriously, remind me why there's still a /home? I'm going to live my Voxly existence inside /reader. My favorite part is Recent Activity. It works the way it should, no more, no less. Simple, beautiful, elegant. Well done!
Dear Lazy Vox,
I would like an easy way to explore the recent assets of people in my neighborhood by type. For instance, a URL such as... http://crw.vox.com/explore/neighborhood/audio or just neighborhood/audio, would be ideal. Does such a beast exist? Am I missing it?
Thanks,
-c.
Trip to Vancouver is back on for 7/16 through 7/21. 7/22 is the Flaming Lips show with Tish and Amy. Last weekend (せんしゅう) hedre and I went to Fort Funston for the first time. Yesterday (きのう), Tish, David, Jeremy, Fiona and I saw A Scanner Darkly. This weekend (こんしゅうまつ), I plan on seeing The Legendary Pink Dots at Slims.
Congrats to the Vox Team on the 0.8.0 release. As usual, the new themes don't disappoint and I'm pleased to see the qotd update. One thing I'm noticing is that suddenly the compose page has four "link" buttons and four matching "center item" buttons. Weird.
I'm going to try to limit my Japanese-only entries, as they're just for practice and they seem to bug people. Instead, I'll work my vocab into regular entries and y'all can just deal with it. For instance - there's a nifty Shadow of the Colossus statue for $88 - or 10,290 yen (いちまんにひゃくきゅじゅうえん).
Last weekend I also took my first Iaido class. It's a bit tough on the knees and shoulders, but probably less so than Kendo would be. I'm more interested in a formal art based on katas than kumite - at least for now. I had an uneventful fourth of July - stayed home, cleaned house, watched lame movies and made about a billion Japanese (にほんご) flashcards.
I really dig the new robot themes. Mena ftw! Also; I got a nifty error telling me that the Compose doesn't work in Safari, but I don't seem to be having a problem. Maybe I'm just not using all the whiz-bang features.
